Work Lab · For Professionals · Founding Cohort Q3 2026

Stay relevant. Stay employable.

AI upskilling for senior leaders, managers, and knowledge workers who'd rather get ahead of the shift than be reorganised by it. Live online cohorts and in-person intensives in Leederville, Perth. You'll leave fluent in the tools your industry is moving to, with the busy work automated, five hours a week back on your calendar, and the literacy to lead AI conversations at your organisation rather than survive them.

The gap is widening

Two professionals. Same job title, same salary, same decade of experience. In two years, only one of them still has the role.

The shift isn't theoretical. Roles are being reorganised, scoped down, or quietly absorbed into smaller teams — already, in your industry, this quarter. The professionals who engaged with AI early are the ones still defining their own work. The question isn't whether the shift is coming. It's whether you're going to be the one driving it, or the one being told what your new job description looks like.

Professionals using AI at work still only chat with it. No automations, no connected systems, no workflow — just a smarter search bar. The productivity gains live past that point.

Our honest read of the landscape
Who this is for

Four kinds of professional who should already be booked in.

The Work Lab is deliberately mixed-discipline. The point is to see how a lawyer, a marketing director, and a government policy lead solve the same problem with AI — and take each other's answers home.

Senior leaders & partners

CEOs, C-suite, partners in professional services. You're making decisions about AI at your firm without using it yourself. That ends here.

Managers & team leads

The person your organisation will ask to "figure out AI for the team." Come out the other side with a defensible point of view and tools you built.

Knowledge workers

Marketing, legal, ops, finance, comms. The work that produces artefacts — briefs, memos, models, decks. This is where AI pays back fastest. Learn how.

Government & public sector

Policy leads, directors, APS EL1+. Procurement, privacy, and pace are different in public service. The intensive has a track tuned to that.

Programmes

Two equal tracks: online and in-person.

A tiered entry — start with the half-day to test the teaching, move into the full cohort once you know it lands. Corporate bookings get bespoke pricing.

The Honest LandscapeWhat the current generation of models is actually good at — and what it isn't
We start with a brutal, demo-led tour of Claude, ChatGPT, and two specialist tools. You leave the first session with a calibrated sense of when to reach for AI and when not to.
02
Prompting as ThinkingStructure, context, examples — the craft of steering a model
The difference between hobbyists and serious users is not "secrets." It's structure. You build a personal prompt library against real tasks from your week. Output: 10 patterns you'll still use in a year.
03
Mapping Your Busy WorkThe repeating admin, the low-leverage tasks, the things eating your Monday
We map your week honestly and pull out the three or four repetitions worth killing first. By session end you've automated one — and seen how to spot the rest on your own.
04
Connecting the Systems You Already UseAI as the glue between email, docs, CRM, calendar, and the rest
The five-hour gains show up when the tools stop sitting in silos. You leave with one workflow connecting at least two systems you already pay for — running without you needing to babysit it.
05
Judgment, Risk, and GovernancePrivacy · hallucinations · when not to use AI · how to brief your legal team
The one most "AI courses" skip. We cover data handling, hallucination detection, and how to have a grown-up conversation about AI risk with people who don't share your appetite for it.
06
Shipping It to the TeamRolling your new workflow out beyond yourself
Capstone: present the workflow you're taking back to your team — what it automates, what it connects, what it hands back in time or revenue. Cohort and instructors critique. You leave with something you'll actually use on Monday.
Three concrete things you leave with

Not theory. Time, revenue, and clarity.

01

Busy work running without you

Two or three pieces of admin automated — the low-leverage stuff that used to own your Monday morning. Your calendar shows up to the work that actually needs you, not the repeats.

02

A workflow that buys back 5+ hours

Your existing tools — email, docs, CRM, calendar — stitched together so AI does the connective work. Hours redirected into revenue-generating work, or your weekend back. Measured against your own calendar.

03

Confidence that holds up in the room

When your board, your clients, or your team ask what AI can do for the business, you answer from experience rather than a LinkedIn post. You can also say "no" with conviction.

Early word

What the first cohort is already saying.

The founding cohort ran under a private invitation. Public cohorts open for Q3 2026 intake. Testimonials below are live quotes; surnames withheld until the Q3 launch at the request of the participants.

I've paid five figures for executive AI training from global firms. Six weeks here was a better education and a fraction of the price. The automation I shipped in the capstone still runs — every week, without me touching it.

Rachel W.Partner · professional services · Perth

I was the "AI person" on my team by default. Now I'm the AI person on merit. The difference is the workflow I walked out with — not slides, an actual running workflow the team uses.

Josh does something almost nobody in this space does: he tells you what the tools can't do. That honesty saved me from two bad procurement decisions in the first month.

Who teaches

Led by Josh, with rotating guest instructors.

Every instructor uses AI in real work every week. If they ever stop, they stop teaching here. That's the quality bar.

J

Josh Horneman

Lead trainer

Builds, ships, and automates with AI every day — the kind of work that runs in production, not slide decks. Brings the operator's view: what works on Monday, not what pitches well at a conference.

+

Guest instructors

Rotating · Perth operators

Every cohort has one or two guest sessions from operators using AI in the field — legal, marketing, finance, government. They come in, they teach what's actually working for them right now, they take questions.

For organisations

Honest answers

The questions serious professionals actually ask.

I've done an AI course before. How is this different?

Most "AI courses" are prompt tricks and vendor demos taught by people who don't ship. We're operators. You'll leave with busy work automated, workflows running on Monday, and a sharper read on where your role is heading — not screenshots for a certificate.

Honestly — is my role at risk?

Some part of every knowledge-work role is. The compressed version: if a chunk of your week is repetitive output, that chunk will be automated within the next 18 months — by your employer, by a competitor, or by you. The professionals who came out of this cohort first are the ones now scoping where AI fits in their team, not waiting to be told. That's the shift we're training for.

Will my employer expense this?

Almost always yes. Happy to send a scoped proposal for L&D, a line-item invoice, and a one-pager you can forward to your manager. Many participants get the full cost reimbursed.

What if I'm a complete beginner?

The half-day is built for it. The flagship assumes you've at least opened ChatGPT once. If you haven't, do the half-day first — same teaching, gentler pace, and it discounts off the flagship if you carry on.

Is my data safe?

We teach on accounts with non-training settings turned on where the provider offers them, and the governance week covers exactly how to handle your organisation's data — what to feed in, what not to, and how to brief your legal team. If the cohort is privacy-sensitive, we run synthetic case material instead of your real data.

How much time per week?

Flagship: 90-minute live session plus ~2 hours of your own work. That work is automating tasks you'd have done by hand anyway — so the time goes back into your week, not on top of it. Not extra evening homework.

What if the models change mid-cohort?

They will. They did last week. Curriculum is updated live; the last cohort's week-one content was re-shot twice before launch. You're learning the craft, not a specific UI.
